VP600 e-passport is a six-color high secure inkjet printer for machine readable passports based on innovative print technology by HP. Passport booklets with up to 100 pages can be processed.
Each single page can get its individual print. Versatile including many standard features the VP600 fits perfectly into passport office environments.
High Security
With its high speed USB 2.0 connection the VP600 can be connected to a document reader via
PC. In this combination basic data can be automatically copied from a former passport or ID
document. Printing is possible after successful verification of traveler‘s former document or legally
issued application form, only.
UV Colors
Outstanding with the VP600 is its ability of printing invisible UV colors to the visible colors
simultaneously. This advantage features enhanced security on personalization and passport
issuing. The VP600 offers a wide range of UV colors, visible under UV light wave range of 254 or 365 nm only. Various ink/print combinations like visible and invisible UV color ghost image, printed data page in UV colors, full color UV ghost photo et cetera, are possible.
Visible Inks: cyan, magenta, yellow, black (others on request)
Invisible Inks: UV blue or UV red (others on request)
Infrared Ink: on request
Printing system – designed to save ink and money
Some printer manufacturers claim that systems with tri-color cartridges waste ink as the whole
cartridge needs to be replaced when a particular color runs out; whereas in individual-cartridge
systems only the ink that has run out needs to be replaced.
In fact, efficient ink usage is not about the type of cartridge (individual or tri-color) but rather about
the design and performance of the printing system.
To demonstrate the point, HP commissioned independent research. The research shows that
tested against comparable HP tri-color-cartridge printers, competing-brand printers with individual
ink cartridges used twice as much ink to print the same number of pages! With their efficient
design, HP printers print up to twice as many high-quality pages using the same amount of ink as
competing printers with individual ink cartridges. Clearly, printers with individual ink cartridges for
each color are not inherently more efficient than printers with tri-color cartridges.
